Poetic Translation by Owen Alsott

1) Panis angélicus, fit panis hóminum,       1) Holy and living bread, wondrous food from heaven sent,
Dat panis cáelicus figúris términum.         God's sacrifice foretold now in our hands we hold.
O resmirábilis mandúcat Dóminum,             Sign and reality, challenge for us to be
Pauper, servus, et húmilis.                  Humble servants to all the poor.

2) Te, trina Déitas únaque, póscimus         2) God, holy Three-In-One, through this off 'ring of your Son
Sic nos tu vísta, sicutte cólimus;           All now on earth can see what we are called to be:
Per tuas sémitas duc nos quo téndimus,       Hope for a world in need, signs that love can succeed
Ad lucem quam inhábitas.                     Where true justice and peace endure.

Traditional translation

1) Panis angélicus, fit panis hóminum,       1) Thus Angels' Bread is made the Bread of man today:
Dat panis cáelicus figúris términum.         the Living Bread from heaven with figures dost away:
O resmirábilis mandúcat Dóminum,             O wondrous gift indeed! the poor and lowly may
Pauper, servus, et húmilis.                  upon their Lord and Master feed.

2) Te, trina Déitas únaque, póscimus          2) Thee, therefore, we implore, O Godhead, One in Three,
   Sic nos tu vísta, sicutte cólimus;            so may Thou visit us as we now worship Thee;
Per tuas sémitas duc nos quo téndimus,        and lead us on Thy way,
Ad lucem quam inhábitas.                      That we at last may see the light wherein Thou dwellest aye.

April 2, 2023, Passion Sunday

Hello.

Our next scheduled date for our choir is this coming, Sunday, April 2, 2023, Passion Sunday, or sometimes called Palm Sunday.  We will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning to get organized for the practice and then begin rehearsal at 9:30 a.m., and end no later than 10:30 a.m.

If you'd like to get more background on Passion Sunday, and Holy Week in general, check out this resource on the CCCB website - https://www.cccb.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Holy-Week.pdf.  Passion Sunday encapsulates Jesus' triumphant entrance into Jerusalem as well as his suffering and death later on Good Friday.

Fr. Moses has asked the choirs to finish their practice in the church 30 minutes before Mass begins, so that the Rosary can start immediately afterward and therefore leave a time period of silence, or instrumental music, between when the Rosary finishes and Mass begins.

The music selections are found below.

For individual pages of the PDF, or audio files of the Mass parts, please select this link which will open up a page of links to individual pages in the Mass setting, and an audio file of the corresponding keyboard accompaniment.

Today is different from the way we usually celebrate Mass on Sundays.  The first part of Sunday's liturgy is the Commemoration of the Lord's Entrance into Jerusalem.
